Sergio Scorza is the founder and president of the SES Group. His history as a businessman began in 1976 as manager of a small company producing civil electrical installations. He was 22 years old and had two apprentices.
In 1978, he won his first competition for a public lighting project in Poggiardo, which as followed by commissions in dozens of towns in Puglia, in the provinces of Lecce and Brindisi.
That was the beginning of an evolution that led to the founding in 1980 of S.E.S srl (Società Elettrica Scorza), the same year in which, at the youthful age of 26, he installed the lighting that lit the entire itinerary of Pope John Paul II on the occasion of his pastoral visit to Otranto.
Shortly after, he established a fruitful collaboration with ENEL to build low medium, and high voltage transmission lines throughout the region of Puglia.
In 1987, as his activities continued to expand in the sector of natural gas network construction, he began a close collaboration with Italcogim spa for the construction of pipelines in various cities in the Salento area.
That reached a culmination with his successfully winning contracts for gas distribution concessions and with the establishment of a new company, Attiva Energia spa, which oversaw energy sales to end-users.
Over these years, applying to other sectors his policies of growth and his vision on sustainable development, Scorza founded the SES Group, thus strengthening his relationship with his local area, through a value set based on the ethics of responsibility, a sense of duty, and a striving for quality and excellence. He assumed an active role within the virtuous circle of business, community, and environment, through completing projects of historical-architectural, environmental, and natural significance, with the goal of leaving a pathway for the guidance of future generations.

Key concepts and values

Beauty
Love for creating generates beauty.
For me, beauty is what imprints the ethics of work on places and on consciences. But it is above all the inspiration and motivation of others to become part of the continuous process of generation, education, civilisation, and human well-being.

Legacy
I have always tried to create well-being and growth, but my real legacy is not business assets but, rather, the sharing of values and the example to give to those around us.
